Finding the perfect diaper bag can feel like an endless search—something that’s stylish yet practical, spacious but not bulky, and organized without being overwhelming. As a mom who loves both fashion and functionality, I wanted a bag that didn’t scream “baby bag” yet could still carry all my essentials effortlessly.

After trying a few options, I finally found the perfect fit—the Storksak St James Diaper Bag. Keep reading to find out why it’s the best diaper bag I’ve ever tried!

What I Wanted in a Diaper Bag

  • I wanted a chic diaper bag that complements any outfit—whether it’s a dress, loungewear, or even ethnicwear.
  • I’m not usually a fan of backpacks, but I love having that option in a diaper bag—being hands-free is essential when carrying a baby. So, I was looking for a bag that could be worn as a backpack and over the shoulder. With a quiet bit of travel planned this year, finding a versatile, travel-friendly bag was a top priority.
  • Ample storage and well-organized pockets were a must for me—I didn’t want to rely on multiple pouches to keep things sorted. I prefer a bag with a built-in organization that keeps everything in place without the need for extra organizers.

After a bit of searching and trying a couple, I finally found the bag that checks all the boxes—the Storksak St James Diaper Bag. Below I am sharing my honest review of the bag and our must-have baby diaper bag essentials

Cons Of Storksak St James Diaper Bag

  • ExpensivePricier than most diaper bags, but I love its versatility—it doubles as a stylish work or travel bag.
  • No quick-access pocket– The only drawback that bothers me is the lack of a quick-access pocket for my phone. I have to open the flap to reach the outside pocket, which can be inconvenient.
  • No Secure Closure for Changing Mat Pocket-Adding a Velcro fastener or a zipper to the changing mat pocket would help prevent items from falling out when taking the mat in and out of the bag.
  • Tight Insulated Pocket– Love the insulated bottle pocket, but it’s a bit tight if you’re using a wide bottle.
  • Missing Side Button for Structure– A small click button on the sides of the bag, right at the fold, would help maintain its shape when not fully packed and prevent the contents from being visible.
  • Capacity Could Be Bigger– While the bag is spacious, it may feel slightly restrictive for parents who need to carry a lot of baby gear or pack for twins.

What Fits Inside? (Baby Diaper Bag Essentials)

One of the biggest concerns moms have is whether a diaper bag can hold everything they need. Here’s what I typically carry in mine:

  • Diapers & Wipes – A must-have every time we step out, this variety pack wipe set includes a travel-size pack that’s compact and easy to carry without being bulky.
  • Extra Pair of Clothes – Accidents happen, so I always carry a spare outfit. Sleep-and-play one-piece outfits are perfect for babies, especially while traveling, as they come with built-in footies and mittens, eliminating the need to pack multiple things. This is a cute set (as shown in the picture above), but it doesn’t include built-in mittens.
  • A Swaddle Cloth– This serves as a baby blanket for use in the car or stroller, and as a soft mat for laying the baby down when needed. I love swaddle blankets from Cloud Island (the one pictured above), Little Unicorn, and this brand from Amazon. They stay soft even after multiple washes.
  • Wearable Pump- As a pumping mom, having a portable or wearable pump makes it easy to pump on the go. I used the Elvie pump with my son and am using it again for my baby girl. It’s compact, fits perfectly in my bag, and keeps my hands free. I reviewed the pump on my IG and saved it in this highlight. To keep it organized, I store it in one of these packing cubes. If you breastfeed, a nursing cover will come in handy for breastfeeding in the public.
  • Burp Cloth– I always keep a burp cloth handy—it’s a must-have for quick cleanups during and after feeding sessions.
  • Milk Bottle– The insulated pocket helps maintain pumped milk at room temperature. Since I alternate between breastfeeding and bottle feeding, we rely on Philips Avent glass bottles. Their nipple design closely mimics the breast, making the transition easier for my baby while ensuring she continues to latch well. I use this silicon sleeve to protect the bottles from breaking.
  • Wet Bag– I always carry a wet bag in my diaper bag to keep soiled clothes, used bibs, or damp items contained while on the go.
  • Pacifier and a Rattle– These are great for soothing and entertaining the baby while on the go. I tried three different pacifiers, and this silicone pacifier is the only one she takes—I love that it’s completely plastic-free. The pacifier clip keeps it from falling or getting lost, making it super convenient. This rattle is another favorite—it’s small, easy to carry, and comes in handy soothing a fussy baby in the car or during diaper changes.
  • Sanitizing spray and Wipes- must-have for quick cleanups, disinfecting surfaces esp the changing pad, and keeping hands germ-free. I use Honest Beauty sanitizing spray and sanitizing wipes (not pictured above).
  • Water Bottle– It keeps me hydrated throughout the day, especially while breastfeeding or pumping. And I can refill water when needed instead of buying single-use plastic bottles. I love this Takeya water bottle,it fits perfectly into the bag, doesn’t have a straw so low maintenance in terms of cleaning.
  • Changing Pad – The included one is super handy!
  • Mom EssentialsWallet, keys, phone, and a tinted lip balm (love this and this).
