Easy Slow Cooker Moroccan Lamb

This easy slow cooker Moroccan lamb recipe is a perfect hearty wholesome meal that the whole family will love.

No slow cooker? No problem! You can easily make this in the oven. It’s quite similar to my popular Moroccan beef tagine recipe, with all the rich flavours but using lamb instead.

I’ve made this Moroccan lamb stew entirely from scratch so I’m not using any harissa paste, just lots of store cupboard spices.

Of course, the great thing about cooking with a slow cooker is that it cooks on its own while you can get on with the other tasks of the day.

I don’t think there’s been a single week recently where I haven’t been making lots of slow cooker recipes.

Not just for a hassle free tasty, delicious meal with less dishes but also to batch cook and fill my freezer for the times I’m too busy at work to come home and face cooking.

Lamb is by far my favourite meat. We do try to limit our red meat consumption nowadays though to perhaps just once a week at most.

So, when I’m going to cook with meat, lamb will often be my meat of choice.

Other than this tasty slow cooker Moroccan lamb stew, when cooking with lamb we also enjoy other lamb favourites like my skinny lamb curry or my one pot chorizo and lamb stew.

Lamb is particularly good for slow cooking because it gets more tender and slowly releases more of its flavour as it cooks.

To keep my lamb stew as lean as possible I always try to get lean leg lamb. Although other cuts of lamb will work with this recipe.

I make sure to cut off any large amounts of unnecessary fat. Although I do leave a little for added flavour, it melts while cooking anyway.

There’s no need to add any artificial sweeteners here, the prunes and honey add just the right amount of sweetness.

Just before the end of cooking I add the chickpeas and carrots to my recipe to give it an extra “bite” and to bulk it up more as lamb can sometimes be pricy.

You can easily customise this recipe yourself with swapping the vegetables with some different vegetables or adding others.

In my opinion this is a great quick weeknight meal option and sure to become a family favourite.

I’ve also served it at dinner parties too where it has gone down extremely well. As has the wine that complimented it! Ha ha!
