Relias is set to expand its learning offerings by incorporating assessment-based virtual reality (VR) through its acquisition of extended reality training solutions provider InceptionXR.
This move aims to improve the company’s combined style of learning with immersive VR experiences, providing healthcare workers with a realistic clinical setting.
Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) impact hospital patients on a daily basis and VR is emerging as a solution for this.
In response to this issue, Relias is introducing a VR training solution in US hospitals that is designed to evaluate nurses and provide training on infection prevention and control.
By using InceptionXR’s expertise in extended reality, Relias’ VR training becomes both scalable and easy to deploy.
It also provides healthcare organisations with data-driven insights.
InceptionXR founder and CEO Benny Arbel said: “We’re thrilled to join forces with Relias to bring cutting-edge VR training to even more healthcare professionals.
“Together, we’re adding a new dimension to how they learn by offering an immersive, hands-on experience that strengthens their skills, builds confidence and, ultimately, improves both patient care and job satisfaction.”
The VR scenarios developed by Relias are brief, requiring only ten to 15 minutes to complete, offering an alternative to live simulations.
The training needs a wireless headset and minimal physical space, thus removing the necessity for handheld controllers, dedicated training rooms, or constant Wi-Fi connectivity.
Relias chief product officer Shawn Barber said: “Preventable healthcare-associated infections remain a critical concern, posing serious risks to both patients and healthcare workers. Addressing this challenge demands innovative solutions that move beyond traditional modalities of training.
“Relias is committed to providing just the right mix of training solutions, and VR is another tool we’re excited to offer healthcare organisations looking to build a more confident, capable workforce.”
Earlier in the year, Relias expanded its workforce solutions by acquiring Feedtrail HealthcareXM, a company specialising in patient and employee experience management.
